...but not forgetting...

07
...to deal with the task of eating their lunch as well.

08
A well earned rest.

09
By the end of the day, the section of collapsed fencing had been restored with over 20 new fence posts...

10
...a considerable amount of useful slate had been excavated and stacked ready for taking to Maespoeth...

11
...the platform face at Maespoeth had been extended several more metres...

12
... more slate waste had been spread on the crossing and on Maespoeth south platform...

13
...the turnout out of the engine shed now closes properly for the first time in a while...

14
...the "throw" having been improved by using a hole closer to the fulcrum on the crank...

15
...a step has been cast in-situ at the south end of the carriage shed....

16
...and several bolts inserted into the south loop point at Maespoeth.
Our sincere thanks to all who helped.

00
04/06/10. Paul Bailey has spent nearly all week getting everything ready for the visit of the TR Tracksiders. Mike joined him in opening the shed doors…

01
… so that no 5 could be pushed out.

02
Between them neither could get no 5 started!

03
More success in finding the right bit for drilling sleepers.

04
This view will soon be gone as Steve Wheeler is making rapid progress with the steps at the south end of the shed.

05
A trolley is loaded with step ladders, shovels, rope and of course the train staff.

06
Paul and Steve discuss the edging which will be one of the tasks.

07
Paul uses the bonker to propel the trolley…

08
… but soon realises he’d forgotten something.

09
The step ladders are to be used as a temporary stile in the spinney…

10
…which still has a great display of bluebells.

11
Paul has been told some further pieces of slate can be found.

12
Up by the triangle is a section of fencing and Paul notes down some details.

13
More bluebells on the way back to Maespoeth.

14
A lorry has delivered some slate waste for the platform.

15
Trefor arrives after work and works with Steve to complete the work on No 6.

16
05/06/10. Tracksiders day starts early at Maespoeth. No 5 is used to bring sand to the platform…

17
… and the brings the train ready for No 7.

18
Steve is already hard at work with the digger.

19
The 11 o’clock train from Corris brings the Tracksiders…

20
… and Catherine presents a cake celebrating a wedding anniversary.

21
Three lucky visitors to Corris found passenger trains running and received the usual shed talk from Richard.

22
Andrew poses with No 7 with the Tracksiders’ own headboard.

23
Paul gave a brief tour of the shed, having passed the newly-painted tank from No 3…

24
… before moving on down the shed.

25
Soon the group have split into various parties. Here the fence by the Triangle is receiving attention.

26
The posts are driven in by using a Whoompher (we need to make one of our own!). It is named after the noise a person makes having put in a dozen posts.

27
One advantage of working with the Tracksiders is that trains pass…

28
…giving new photo opportunities…

29
… but always making sure workers are stood on the east side of the line.

30
The youngsters are involved in nailing the fence to the new posts…

31
… while the adults carry on whoomphing.

32
Another train is propelled up to Corris…

33
…passing workers glad of the rest…

34
… and soon returns south again.

35
An hour later and the group have moved to the Spinney where the temporary stile gives access to the collection of slate which is moved ready for collection.

36
Back at Maespoeth No 6 rests between duties…

37
… as Steve moves slate waste around on the platform.

38
Everyone is impressed by the work on extending the platform edge.

39
Meanwhile on No 7 Trefor is pitting himself against the demands of a new batch of coal, which is different to use to previous loads.

40
John Wormington looks out over the car park…

41
...as the Tracksiders depart.

42
Back at Maespoeth Paul moves the sand pile…

43
… as Steve fills another wagon load of slate waste.
