"TATTOO" LOCOMOTIVE PROJECT PROGRESS |
The Corris Railway's new "Tattoo" class steam locomotive is making excellent progress, as can be seen from the photograph above and others taken in June 2002 on an inspection visit to the Daventry works where the locomotive is being manufactured. To view the photographs please click here.
The locomotive is being funded by subscription by supporters of the project. At current prices a further £50,000 is needed to complete the locomotive, which at the present rate of funding will take a further four years to raise.
Following the recommencement of the railway's passenger services in June 2002, the railway is keen to have the locomotive in operation as soon as possible, and a new appeal is therefore being launched to raise the funds to bring the completion date forward. A considerable boost to the appeal has been received from the President of the Corris Railway Society, "Thomas" author Christopher Awdry, who has generously offered to double any donation to the locomotive fund received in the next twelve months by donating a matching sum.
A copy of the new Appeal Leaflet can be viewed by clicking here (Adobe Acrobat will be needed). Printed copies can be obtained from the Appeal Co-Ordinator, Peter Guest, at 38 Underwood Close, Callow Hill, Redditch, Worcs, B97 5YS; e-mail to peterg@corris.co.uk
