CORRIS RAILWAY SANTA TRAINS AND TWO NEW BOOKS ABOUT THE CORRIS COMPLETE THE 150th ANNIVERSARY YEAR. |
The final trains of the Corris Railway’s 150th Anniversary
season will operate on Saturday December 12th and Sunday December 13th when the
traditional Santa Trains will convey passengers between Corris Railway Station
and Santa’s grotto inside the carriage shed at Maespoeth Junction.
The first train will leave Corris at 11.00 a.m. and the last at 3.00 p.m. The
cost of the round trip is £5 for each adult and £5 for each child and this
includes seasonal refreshments for the adults and a present for each child. The
trains will be headed by the Railway’s steam locomotive number 7.
And for those who are still looking for a present for the enthusiast for
Railways or local history in their lives two new books have been ordered by the
Corris Railway Society and should be on sale on the Santa Train running days.
The first is "A Corris Celebration" by Gwyn Briwnant Jones, which retails for
£9.99; this is in similar format to Gwyn's previous books on the Corris, and
primarily covers the years when the Society has been working to restore the
line.
