Corris school is venue once again for Corris Railway’s Model Railway and Toy Exhibition. |
Following the success of its relocation to the new venue in 2009 this year’s Corris Railway Society Model Railway and Toy Exhibition will once again be held in the Village School at Corris, next to the railway station, over August Bank Holiday Weekend August 28th and 30th.
The Exhibition will feature some 15 layouts ranging in scale from N through to G with a mixture of both narrow and standard gauge and British and overseas prototypes. To add to the mixture for the modeller there will be some demonstration stands and a number of dealers of models and books will be present. The Corris Railway Society Sales Stand will also be present together with that for the “Falcon Appeal”, raising money for the construction of the line’s next steam engine. Another popular stall holder in recent years, Kate Packham, will be back with her hand-crafted jewellery and ornaments which have sold well in the past to female visitors to the Exhibition. Refreshments and light snacks are available.
Outside a miniature railway will give rides in the School Grounds whilst steam train services will be running at hourly intervals starting at 11.00 a.m. from Corris station for the round trip to Maespoeth Junction and back (last departure is at 4.00 p.m.). At Maespoeth Corris Railway rolling stock will be available for modellers to photograph, measure and draw if they wish. The Corris Railway Museum will also be open.
Entrance to the Exhibition will cost £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for seniors and £1.00 for children with a family ticket covering 2 adults and 2 children costing £6.00. Discounts will be available for those who have travelled on the trains during the day and similarly reduced train travel is available for people who have previously visited the Exhibition.
