Fitting a ceiling in the machine shop is a team effort!

Tuesday, 27.8.2024. August "Work Week". Various jobs are worked on during the week but fitting a ceiling in the machine shop is a team effort!

But well worth the effort!

Work on our new signal progressed well.

Tom is our new fencing master.

Laura is lining out our latest loco.

James and Cameron are preparing a carriage to run behind our new loco.

The work week gang enjoy a well deserved break.

Paul makes a start in preparing the machine shop walls for a spot of decorating.

While Mike has started to re-mortar the gaps in the window recess.

John D is making up some mortar to keep the team busy.

Whilst Chris gets down to applying it at a low level.

By the end of the week the walls of the machine shop are drying out ready to receive a limewash.

At Corris Ian, Mike and Paul have strengthened and extended the lever frame platform.

Can you spot the new piece?

Whilst at Corris they have replaced a section of fence for our neighbours in the school.

John is all trussed up ready to ascend onto the engine shed roof ...

… where he replaced the hat covering the smokehood extraction flue

From down here it really looks the part.

Meanwhile Kathy has been treating some fencing John W has erected for safety reasons.

Paul has made a start on installing guttering on the platform shed ...

John is trimming the trees around the signal box.

Which no longer cover the box nor touch passing carriages.

That’s a good job done!

Kathy is dismantling the Brio table ready to…

... give it a repaint ...

... and later is seen sneaking off with some carriage cushions ready for a little winter homework.

Some of the workweek attendees took an afternoon off for a trip on the TR (in the Corris carriage of course!).

Richard has made over 200 at home in Sussex over the winter. This batch are being loaded into the car of another member to have colour and preservative applied

The framework for the South Platform fence awaits the pales being made over the winter

Whilst Richard has made a start on treating the other 100+ pales so hopefully around Easter time our new fence will be complete
