Corris Railway to host Spring Gala on Sunday May 28th 2017

Following the success of its Gala Day in 2016 the Corris Railway will be hosting its 2017 event on Sunday May 28th.

The day will feature a variety of train formations working between Corris station and Maespoeth Junction (please note that it is only possible to start journeys at Corris) including steam and diesel haulage and at least one demonstration gravity train running down from Corris to the Junction. The locomotive and carriage sheds will be open at Maespoeth Junction where amongst other things visitors will be able to view work on the construction of the next two carriages being constructed for the revival of the Railway. The Railway’s Museum and shop at Corris will be open and light refreshments will be available. Day tickets will be sold at Corris station.

Following work at Maespoeth to convert carriage number 20 to a brake composite vehicle passenger trains at the Gala and in 2017 generally will be able to load up to a trio of carriages. To accommodate this and to allow locomotives to head trains up the Dulas Valley the platform at Corris has been extended as the next stage in the project to build a new station which will evoke the atmosphere of the original including an overall roof.
