2014 Photograph Archive

Photographs taken between 18th & 27th August 2014

Monday, 18.8.14. Unfortunately, no fireman today, so services were run by No. 6.
At the end of the day, No. 7 is fetched from the South Platform, where it has been on display all day.
Tuesday, 19.8.14. The first arrivals for the Tuesday gang fortify themselves with tea before starting work ….

…but Derek has been at it for several hours, here cleaning No. 7 as part of the loco’s preparations.
During the day, extra labels have been added to the First Aid boxes throughout the railway …
…the north west seat in carriage No. 22 has been completed …

…and more brake gear linkages have been assembled under the bogies.
To help work under the carriage, a mobile seat has been made up!
In the Engine Shed, a fabrication has been completed for the point rodding in Corris.

Saturday, 23.8.14. The train crew prepare No. 7 for the day’s work, Trefor taking a more relaxed stance!
No. 7 approaches its train.
In the Model Railway Exhibition, the new model of our proposed layout for a new station and other facilities at Corris …

…is put on display to the public for the first time ...
…together with a new, limited edition print by Nick Harling to be used on a display on the new path opened by the Council along the old track bed towards the cemetery in Corris.
The tea facilities were in much demand …

…while Otto and Neil give a demonstration on building and running a railway, watched briefly by Nick.
The T-shirt says it all!
Why did the chicken cross the road?

Monday, 25.8.14. A Dalek has been delivered to the Carriage Shed by Ian Cross …
…and was demonstrated in action by Bill McDonald.
Ian has set up part of No. 23’s body panels for fabricating the southern end.

It is rather wet today!
Wednesday, 27.8.14. No. 7 drops back with a Special, after performing a run-past …
…and eventually heads back to Corris with the contented passengers.

Meanwhile, yesterday a handrail was welded up for No. 23 …
…and the cleaned up steel work for another heritage waggon has been painted in primer.
The south end of the Carriage Shed has been emptied …

…with the vans outside for use on the Special …
…before they are put away at the end of the day.

Saturday, 7.12.2019. Trefor is happy to be steaming No. 7 in the Engine Shed ready for today's activities and visitors. Phil has just delivered a waggon wheelset recovered from ‘Ralltgoed some time ago (and removed some good pallets he had a use for). Meanwhile, Trefor has (with others) been working on No. 6 in the Engine Shed. Meanwhile, in the Engine Shed, Phil is cleaning out the suds reservoir of the lathe, so the lathe is again fully functional and serviced … Meanwhile in Corris, Stevie has erected the top to his lamp … Last minute preparations to greet visitors are being made as No. 7 draws forward before dropping back on to its train … In the evening, it is the Society’s Christmas Dinner, attended by a Special Guest! In Machynlleth, a banner advert for the weekend has been erected … All too soon, the last train arrives back at Maespoeth … … with the next moves agreed with Bob and Chris. While in contrast outside, Helen is spinning with delight! … which looks very atmospheric in the gloom.
