Boiler Inspector Graham Morris writes details of the plate thickness onto the firebox of Number 7.
He has nifty ultrasonic device for measuring this.
Washout plugs clean and ready for examination.
Now the boiler has been painted with various substances to aid more comprehensive Non Destructive Testing.
Specialist tester Jim Kennedy uses Magnetic Particle Inspection to test the welds for cracks.
And the result - After passing all tests ...
...the boiler has a clean bill of health and we can start to rebuild it and the rest of the engine.
