Wednesday, 30.11.2016. A consignment of steel pipes have been delivered for additional loco watering facilities to be installed over the winter.

Saturday, 3.12.2016. Steve helps prepare No. 7 by cleaning the whistle & other brass work …

… on a dead calm day …

… for a Special Train for Derek Morrison-Smith’s family & friends to dispose of his ashes.

The train awaits its passengers at Corris …

… before heading back …

… to Maespoeth, where photographs are taken, and …

… where Derek’s daughter, Liz, got togged up for a cab ride up to Corris …

… and Guard Amanda and Controller Richard, are dressed smartly!

Soon it was time to go, with Derek’s ashes in the firebox – but due to a fine paste of ferrous oxide in suspension on the rail head – adhesion conditions were challenging …

… but the trip was (just) successfully achieved so that a group photograph could be taken at Corris.

Back at the Engine Shed, No. 7 is disposed of largely by Trefor ...

… who then discusses electrical problems on No. 11 with Richard …

… while another Richard disposes of hedge cuttings in the incinerator.

No time is lost (after the Special Train) to re-commence fishplate greasing up the line …

… but some of the bolts prove challenging to undo …

… so that Ben can then grease the plates!

The last plates for the weekend are soon tackled.

Tuesday, 6.12.2016. A fine mist lies over Maespoeth Yard …

… as stock is re-shunted for Santa Trains …

… but the change in temperature and humidity causes the windows to mist over!

Sam keeps a wary eye on the decoration of the gazeebo’s …

… which are soon transformed …

… while waggons are shunted to release trolleys.

By early afternoon, decoration work is complete at Maespoeth …

… including Santa’s Grotto …

… so that work can start (and finish) in the Museum in Corris.

Wednesday, 7.12.2016. Advertising for Santa …

… is all in place!

Saturday, 10.12.2016. Andrew prepares the train crew’s lunch …
