2017 Photograph Archive

Photographs taken between 2nd & 8th August 2017

Wednesday, 2.8.2017. A Pirate ship is sailing through the carriage in the Museum …
… to which has been added, the handrail – handy for tying bunting to!
Saturday, 5.8.2017. The Pirate weekend is greeted by a salute …

… a Jolly Roger and …
… staff suitably attired for the occasion!
Maespoeth Yard has been suitably decorated …

… and the Pirates Cabin prepared for the reciting of Pirate Tales by Derek, complete with ship-board sound effects!
A suitable headboard is carried …
… and staff “manning” the games wave off the first happy passengers as their train heads back towards Corris.

For those who survive walking the plank, other hazards exist in the water …
… with other features around the station, including a rather aggressive looking jelly mould!
Sunday, 6.8.2017. Jane impresses with her skipping skills as the train awaits its locomotive …

… and later, No. 9 waits in the “middle” road with the Heritage Waggons to take them up to Corris.
By the time No. 9 has returned, the heavens have opened, and everyone is taking shelter …
… which makes for a very wet run for the Gravity Train!

Monday, 7.8.2017. A Study Group from Plas Tan y Bwlch (Maentwrog) photograph the train departing Maespoeth South platform before receiving their Shed Talk …
… plus a few extra activities made possible with their extended stay.
Back in Corris, Brenda, Rob, Keith & Roger re-live the experience of travelling on the railway they helped create!

Tuesday, 8.8.2017. It is dry this morning, so Ben & Bob prepare No. 7 outside, as No. 6 brings up the carriages from the Carriage Shed …
… but the rain soon returns as Stevie and Dick …
… add further edge ballast on the approaches to the Carriage Shed.

Peter has primed the new steel welded to carriage No. 24 last week …
… before waterproofing the remaining roof timbers for carriages No. 23 & 24 …
… while in the Engine Shed, Bob & Chris have been practicing turning square threads on the lathe.
