Tuesday, 31.10.2023. A grand shunt takes place ...

... to bring the Drop-side Waggon into the Carriage Shed for some adjustments ...

... but Adrian is occupied ...

... adding a seat to the Velocipede for those with longer legs to try out!

Meanwhile, Bill and Mark are making adjustments ...

... and Robin is fitting mirrors for use in carriage No. 24 ...

... and adjusts spacings prior to fitting them.

During the day, the Santa advertising board is assembled and erected on the gantry.

Rain was forecast for today - but this is what we got. No complaints here!

Thursday, 2.11.2023. The tramway arch at Machynlleth has largely been finished by Shotcrete ...

... and looks very neat.

Saturday, 4.11.2023. Steam is being raised in No. 7 with the smoke hood being overwhelmed ...

... and with steam up, No. 7 is used to draw No. 10 out of the Shed for a Railway for a Day.

Leaving No. 10 outside, No. 7 draws forward before dropping back on to its (shortened) train ...

... before heading northwards.

With the train up the line, No. 5 is started and other participants run about the yard with it ...

... while Trefor starts to clean the tubes in No. 10.

The tubes behind the blast pipe are impossible to access from the front of the loco, so the generous hole in the rear cab sheet is used to access them through the firebox ...

... and the brush handle is (just!) long enough for the task.

The train has returned from Corris, so No. 11 is used to push No. 10 and Trefor's coat back into the Engine Shed.

After lunch, No. 7 runs around its train ...

... and water can be taken.

Later, No. 5 is brought up and poses alongside No. 7 and train ...

... which soon departs northwards once more.

Using different tracks, others practice driving No. 5 and 6 under supervision ...

... before the last runs take place with No. 7 (and train).

With light falling, other participants try their hand with No. 11 ...

... and with the train returned, No. 7 detached and being disposed of, No. 11 is used for practice on the main line.

The final act of the day is for No. 6 to draw forward to put the carriages away.

Tuesday, 7.11.2023. Adrian works to replace sections of brake gear on the Drop-side waggon ...
