Description
A personal account by renowned railway artist, Eric Leslie, who began his working life in the early 1950s as an apprentice carpenter with British Rail. It covers over 40 years of his involvement in the narrow gauge movement – from early days helping lay track to more recent work illustrating cards and posters for preservation societies. Featuring a collection of his charming and evocative watercolours, it’s a fitting tribute to the many narrow gauge railway volunteers and will delight all steam railway fans.
This book covers 12 narrow gauge railways and includes 2 paintings of the Corris – ‘Busy day at Escairgeiliog. No.3 waits for passengers’ and ‘Rainy Day at Aberllefenni’. Also included and personally illustrated are the Lynton & Barnstaple, Ashover, Ffestiniog, Leek & Manifold, Mull, Talyllyn, Welsh Highland and Welshpool & Llanfair Railways, plus the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad and Slate Quarries.
